Who is Tamara Gruenewald?
I'm a front-end web developer and educator. For 8 years I've taught STEAM to elementary schoolers, and I built Dayharu.com, a scheduling tool that saves schools dozens of hours of admin work. In my spare time I make games for itch.io game jams, and when I'm not at a keyboard, I'm probably roller skating.

A scheduling tool built for schools and academies, so admin teams don't have to spend dozens of hours building a semester schedule by hand.
Scheduling eats admin time
Building a semester schedule by hand takes dozens of admin hours — and it's easy for it to feel rigged in favor of whoever's friends with the person making it.
Tell it what you've got
Teachers and their qualifications, the classes offered, and each student's semester plan — how many of each class they need.
Under 3 minutes
Dayharu does the math and builds a full schedule of who needs to be where, and when — no spreadsheets required.
Sub schedules too
It also generates a substitute schedule, so small private schools that can't afford an outside sub service still have a plan when a teacher is out.
How it's built
Svelte, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS on the front end, with a PocketBase backend for storing user data. Hosted on Cloudflare.

Robot Lab Work in progress
A kids' coding app I'm building: students design a virtual robot, then program its behavior with Blockly to complete tasks in a simulated environment.
Build, then code
Kids design a robot from parts — chassis, wheels, motors, sensors — then use block-based code to program it to complete tasks, like knocking over a soda can.
Blockly is wired up
The robot builder and a Blockly-integrated code editor are in place, letting students snap parts onto a chassis, wire up matching ports, and write behavior with blocks.
